Treatments

Dr. Benson Tam offers a variety of health care treatments to ensure that every patient’s needs are met. In addition to Chiropractic and Massage Therapy, the following treatments are offered and /or typically used during a standard visit.
Spinal Manipulation

• This is a gentle manipulation of the spinal elements (vertebrae and joints). It helps to restore a greater range of motion, improve blood flow, and facilitate nutritional transport to help prevent joint degeneration.

Physiotherapy Modalities

• Physiotherapy modalities can be described as the application of mechanical and/or electrical forces to an area of the body in order to enhance its function and/or healing process.

Muscle Stimulation

• By using small (and painless) amounts of electrical current, specific, targeted muscles are rapidly contracted and released. This relaxes the muscles and enables the adjustment to be more effective.

Ultrasound

• Is a process in which deep sound waves penetrate the muscles and provide warmth and vibration. This encourages further relaxation of the muscles providing a gentle, soothing treatment.

Spinal Traction

• Therapeutic spinal traction uses manually or mechanically created forces to stretch and mobilize the spine. Traction may alleviate back pain by stretching tight spinal muscles that result from spasm and widen intervertebral foramen to relieve nerve root impingement.

Therapeutic Stretching/Exercises

• This is a series of specialized techniques that take advantage of doctor and patient one-on-one interaction in order to create gains in the flexibility of specific isolated muscle groups.

On-Site X-Ray

• Radiography technology and automatic developing give us the ability to detect fractures (broken bones)or bony pathology immediately so that a referral can be made if necessary.
